Full frame 6K BSI sensor

Capture breathtaking footage with Canon’s cutting-edge backside illuminated (BSI) sensor, delivering next-generation capabilities, triple base ISO (800 / 3200 / 12800), organic colour reproduction, and 16 stops of dynamic range.

Compact, ergonomic and familiar design

A familiar and updated design delivers improved ergonomics, connectivity, plus updated joystick and multi-function shoe. Use the top handle or build your own rig, with flexibility to shoot your way in challenging conditions.

Dual Pixel CMOS AF II with EOS iTR AF X

Enjoy updated, faster auto focus technology. Pin-sharp and ultra-responsive face, eye, head, body, and animal tracking covering the full sensor. Have full control with face-only recognition and customisable settings to help ensure your focus never slips.

Professional recording formats and high frame rates

Including 12-bit Cinema RAW Light LT up to 6K 30P, and 4:2:2 10-bit up to 4K 120P. Oversampled 4K is available via XF-AVC and improved XF-AVC S / XF-HEVC S (MP4) formats, all featuring detailed metadata and filename structures. Output HDMI RAW to compatible external recorders.

RF mount

Rely on cutting-edge prime, zoom, and cinema lenses for unrivalled optical performance, real-time lens metadata, and ultra-responsive AF/IS systems. Easily use your PL and EF lenses with a Canon mount adapter.

Uncompromised connectivity

Professional on-body I/O includes 12G-SDI, HDMI, 2x mini-XLR, Mic In, Remote, and Timecode. Built-in Wi-Fi / Ethernet enables real-time IP streaming (SRT / RTSP) and remote control via XC Protocol and Multi-Camera Control app. Expandable with Canon’s Multi-Function Shoe.

Designed for the future

Real-time lens metadata output and capture for VP and VFX with support for Unreal Engine and After Effects, including distortion correction data. And create immersive VR experiences with Canon’s RF 5.2mm F2.8L Dual Fisheye lens.

What is triple base ISO?

Triple base ISO delivers the best signal-to-noise ratio at multiple amplifications. Canon’s cutting-edge 6K BSI sensor measures at three base ISOs – 800, 3200, and 12800 ISO – choose between them, or use auto-switching and the EOS C80 will pick the optimal setting.

The basics: BSI sensors

The backside illuminated (BSI) sensor’s improved architecture places circuity underneath the sensor plane. Benefits include increased dynamic range, auto-focus and rolling shutter performance.

Why is metadata so important?

In Virtual Production and VFX workflows, camera metadata is essential to producing professional results. The EOS C80 and Canon RF mount lenses let you extract every drop of metadata – from ISO to f stop and even distortion correction – so your post process becomes smoother than ever.
